For the past two summers (and every season in between), I keep waking up around 5 a.m.! Doesn't seem to matter what time I go to bed...I will still wake up so darn early! Sometimes I will just lay in bed for a little while before I get up, but usually I just get up and try to be quiet so as not to wake my sleeping husband. I really wish I could change this habit a little bit...say wake up at 6:30!
Lord knows I like my "quiet time" but this is ridiculous!!

What to Do!
I've been playing a lot of games on the computer lately. Since the knee scope, I have finished my latest counted cross-stitch picture and I don't have my materials yet to start my next project....urgh!!!
I still want one of the bedrooms painted and I have had the paint for over a month but I can't get on the ladder just yet but that is my goal! (Man, I really want to get that room done!)
I guess I'm at a loss for something to do (given my limitations)! Guess I'll pray that my cross-stitch stuff comes quickly!

In the Good Old Summertime
I hope all of you are enjoying your summertime! Me? Well, I got to see 5 of my beautiful grandkids (thanks Debbie for spending the night) and I'm still recovering from my knee scope. I have 2 more weeks of PT. Wish I could say the surgery worked, but I am about where I was before the scope. I go back to see my ortho doc next week and will probably have another injection (yuck). If that doesn't do the trick, then I guess I will have the knee replacement. I don't think I'm asking too much...to be able to walk without a lot of pain or to be able to straighten my leg out. Oh well, I will survive this!
Well, stay cool....(weatherwise)!

Don't You Hate It When He's Right!
I went back to the ortho doc this morning. Had another x-ray of my thumb which is healing...yeah!!! My knee was still hurting like a son-of-a-gun, so I broke down and had the cortisone shot in my knee which Alan said I should have gotten two weeks ago. He was right...it already feels better. I had to keep ice on the injection site for a few hours because my knee really swelled up. Let's see, I took two mild pain pills for my knee, had a reaction to the stuff and passed out breaking my thumb...got the cortisone shot for my knee and my knee swelled up big time....Ever get the feeling that you just can't win?
To quote my daughter, "tomorrow will be a better day" because I said so!!!!

Mother's Day
I would like to take this moment to wish all moms a very Happy Mother's Day! My four daughters (Mary, Leslie, Debbie and Bonnie) are such great moms and they have given me such pride and joy (heartaches too) in their lives. They have also given me beautiful grandkids. (Luke your day of thanks will come later) They say being a parent is a thankless job. While you may not get thanks from your children while they are growing up, you get rewarded with grandkids and I have 19 rewards!
I am so proud of my kids and grandkids! After all, isn't this really what Mother's Day is about?
Hope all moms have a wonderful day!

No, my name isn't Grace
I went to the doctor last Friday because I was having a lot of pain in my left knee (which turned out to be a lot of arthritis). She ordered x-rays and gave me a prescription for Tramadol which is a very mild pain killer. That night I took 2 of the pills like it said on the label (2 every 8 hours) and went to bed. The next morning I was at the computer (13 hours after I had taken the pills) when I broke out in a clammy sweat and was nauseous. I thought I was either going to throw up or pass out. I tried making my way to the family room sofa but I didn't make it. I passed out. When I opened my eyes at first I thought way to go..you made it to the sofa, but upon closer inspection, my face was in the front part of the sofa and my body was on the floor! Apparently when I passed out, I thought I jammed my thumb because it looked like a question mark and it was hurting. I tried to straighten it out but it kept going crooked. Fast forward to yesterday (Friday again). I had an appointment with the orthopedic doctor about my knee. Since my thumb was still hurting like a son-of-a-gun, I asked him to look at it. Back to x-ray I go. Turns out my thumb was broken (no wonder it hurt)! The doc told me I did a pretty good job setting it....yeah!!! Now I have this plastic cover over my thumb which keeps me from bumping it all the time. I will go back to see the orthopedic doc in two weeks to see how things are going.
I really tried to do the right thing and I end up in worse shape than when I started. Just my usual gracefulness!!
