I went to the doctor last Friday because I was having a lot of pain in my left knee (which turned out to be a lot of arthritis). She ordered x-rays and gave me a prescription for Tramadol which is a very mild pain killer. That night I took 2 of the pills like it said on the label (2 every 8 hours) and went to bed. The next morning I was at the computer (13 hours after I had taken the pills) when I broke out in a clammy sweat and was nauseous. I thought I was either going to throw up or pass out. I tried making my way to the family room sofa but I didn't make it. I passed out. When I opened my eyes at first I thought way to go..you made it to the sofa, but upon closer inspection, my face was in the front part of the sofa and my body was on the floor! Apparently when I passed out, I thought I jammed my thumb because it looked like a question mark and it was hurting. I tried to straighten it out but it kept going crooked. Fast forward to yesterday (Friday again). I had an appointment with the orthopedic doctor about my knee. Since my thumb was still hurting like a son-of-a-gun, I asked him to look at it. Back to x-ray I go. Turns out my thumb was broken (no wonder it hurt)! The doc told me I did a pretty good job setting it....yeah!!! Now I have this plastic cover over my thumb which keeps me from bumping it all the time. I will go back to see the orthopedic doc in two weeks to see how things are going.
I really tried to do the right thing and I end up in worse shape than when I started. Just my usual gracefulness!!

What a Week
It was quite a week even though it's not quite over. My mother-in-law passed away on Monday morning. Tuesday Alan had to meet with the funeral home people and it was election day. Alan was re-elected as Mayor of Bronson. Wednesday was our wedding anniversary to which Alan said this wasn't a very good way to celebrate it. I told him just not to make a habit of it! Which brings us to today. We laid mom to rest beside dad, Clinton and Debbie. I know she so happy to be home but we will miss her wit. I did get to spend some time with five of my beautiful grandchildren (thanks Debbie and Paul) and Bonnie, Jay and my son Luke. This afternoon Alan and I went to Fort Scott and picked up our new glasses. It's going to take some getting used to the no-line however. Tomorrow is Friday and I will be at work at City Hall.
So much happened this week and honestly, I hope I don't have another week like this one for a very, very long time.

Wow!
This is a perfect word for describing today. It is absolutely beautiful outside! I plan on going outside and doing few things in just a little bit. Thank you Jesus for giving us this day.
