Special Caller

I received several phone calls today from Stormy, and I have to laugh a little because she told me (on the second call), that her dad was sleeping and she had to make sure Connor didn't do something, or else...On the last call, she asked to speak with Grandpa.

Please don't get too upset with her, she told me she was bored! And, I love hearing from the grandkids!!!

What a special little girl is our Stormy!!!!

Almost a Perfect Day

Another beautiful day today, almost perfect. Then some jerk has to go and shoot their fellow soldiers at Ft. Hood, Tx. This is just so sad. So, thanks jerk for ruining my day! Hope you rot in hell!!!!

Beautiful Day!

Man, it's so pretty out today! The sun is shining and the wind isn't blowing 100 mph! I've been busy this morning. Have done three loads of laundry, cleaned the house, played on the computer, and am now going to the garage to finish the lettering on the yard Bible for Christmas! When that's done, I'm going to cut out a skirt for me! (Almost makes you tired just reading this, doesn't it?)

A Good Week (so far)

Have had a good week (so far). Monday night we went to Valley Center to watch grandson Seth, play football. He had 9 great tackles. Unfortunately, his team doesn't have much of an offense, but they only lost by 2 points. BTW, Happy Birthday Seth!!

Tonight, we went to Independence to watch grandson Cole play. He really is part of a great little team. Way to go Black Dawgs on your win (31 to 0)!!!

Oh, I forgot to mention that both of these games were in the rain!! Poor Cole was sooo cold.

Anyway, like I said, so far it has been a good week. Pray the remainder is as good!!

Sniff...Sniff...Sniff...Blow....Blow...Blow..etc.

Yes, my favorite season of the year is here! Unfortunately, my allergies really kick into high gear during this time of year. While I'm feeling better, I'm going to start praying for a hard freeze so that I can finally quit with the runny nose, itchy eyes, and sore throat!

Got to watch a really good football game. Unfortunately, my grandson's team lost in the last few seconds, but what a game! The other grandsons' games were good, but not as exciting as the first one. Way to go boys!!!

My granddaughters were cheering at the time of the first game on different fields, so I didn't get to watch them for very long. Just long enough to see them do a few of their cheers. They were really good! Most people don't realize how much time and effort goes into these cheers. Not only from the cheerleaders, but from the coaches too. I am so proud of the girls! They really did so well!!! Great job girls!!!!

I'm Ready For Some Football!

Geesh, I didn't think I'd ever start feeling better, but thank God, I am.

That being said, we're heading to the city tomorrow to watch three of the grandsons play football and two of the granddaughters will be cheerleading. I am so ready!!!

Middle of September

Today is the middle of September and also my son's birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY LUKE! It's also my son-in-law's birthday, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY KURT! Hope each of you has a great day!!!

You could die waiting for the dr's office to call

My doctor said last Wednesday that if I wasn't feeling better in a couple of days to call her office and she would prescribe something for me. Well, I managed to make it through the weekend (barely), but had to miss my granddaughter's first birthday party because I can't quit coughing, and am still sick! I called the doctor's office at 8 this morning. Tanya said she would get with the doctor and call me back shortly. Well, after 5 hours, I called Tanya back. She forgot where she put my notes!! Tanya said she was sorry (my ass) and would call me back. After 30 minutes, I called Tanya again but had to leave a voicemail this time.

Finally, Tanya called me back and ordered the prescription. Alan will pick it up before he comes home.

After all this crap, this stuff had better work or somebody's head will roll!!!!

Special Day for a Special Girl

Just wanted to say Happy Birthday to a beautiful little girl, Sage.

Been gone too long

It's been a long time since I blogged. It seems like we are always doing something or other. To catch everyone up to speed on what's been happening, we are almost done with the repair work on the house. Actually, the house is done. We just need the siding fixed on the two sheds behind the house. It's been almost two months since the storm and every weekend you can hear the sound of people putting on roofs!

Alan and I joined the Ruritan. This gives us one more meeting to go to every month. We will also be assisting throughout the year with various events.

Now for some bad news...I think I have the flu. I've been so sick for the last couple of days and can't seem to get rid of this fever! I've coughed so much that my ribs are sore. If I'm not better (or dead) by Tuesay, I'll call the doctor. In the meanwhile, pray that I get over this stuff!!!

Be Careful When Opening Garage Doors

I happened to be in the garage throwing something in the trash can when Alan got home. He didn't know I was in the garage. He opened the garage door and a snake fell from the door! I started yelling "snake...snake" (gosh I hate those suckers)! Alan went in the back door, got the shovel and the broom, found the snake (a black snake about 18inches long), killed it with the shovel, scooped it up and threw it away!

If I hadn't been in the garage when he opened the door, that slimy thing would have made a home inside my garage!

Double Special Day

Today is a double special day. My mom is celebrating her 86th birthday and my grandson Brandon has a birthday too! Happy Birthday to each of you. You are loved very much!

Big Day

Yep, it's the Big Day today. My twin sister is 56 years old! HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHARLENE! Love ya

Thinking of my brother

Today would have been my brother Darrel's birthday. Had he lived, he would have been 60 years old. There really isn't a day that I don't think of him in some way, but especially today.

Can't imagine what he would have looked like at 60 since he will forever be 53 in my mind.

So Darrel, while you are missed by so many, you are never forgotten!

Another Good Day

Went to the City this morning and picked up two of my granddaughters and brought them home with me for a visit. I just love it when the grandkids come! The girls like helping Grandpa. We've been on the 4-wheeler and have been to For Scott already today! Wait till their mom sees what the girls picked out at the store! (Sorry Debbie) At least it doesn't stick to stuff!!!

Home

Had a wonderful time on vacation. Alaska was having record breaking heat while we were there and it was hot! We did get to see several glaciers...just breathtaking!!

Happy Birthday Connor!

Today is grandson Connor's 4th birthday. Happy Birthday honey. We love you and can't wait to see what you have in store for us next!

Great Day Today!

Haven't blogged for a few days so thought I would tell you how great my day has been so far today. Got a visit from my son, Luke and his son, Austin. We had a wonderful afternoon together just talking and hanging out. Alan's grandson, Darin, is here for a visit and he and Austin had a lot of fun together.

As always, I love it when my kids come for a visit!!

What a Storm!

Got hit yesterday by a "Severe" thunderstorm. Had 80 + mph winds and hail. Check out what the hail did to the little shed just out the back door. It actually drilled a hole through the siding!!

Afternoon at the Dentist

I spent an hour at my dentist's office this afternoon. Got two fillings. Of course they couldn't be on the same side! It's been almost two hours since I left her office and I'm still waiting to get the feeling back in my mouth! It really is difficult drinking my tea when I can't tell if my lips are on the glass!!! Okay, quit laughing!!!!!

My Blog (Brag) for today

Got to tell you that I am so very proud of my kids! My oldest, Mary K., is a kindergarden teacher, has the patience of Job, and is very crafty. Special to me because she is my first child. My second child, Leslie, is a contract negotiator, is stylish, and can multi-task like there is no tomorrow!Of my five, she has always been the one to look most like me (sorry Sessie)! Number three, Debbie, is a stay-at-home mom. Not saying she doesn't work, she does daycare, manages her four kiddos, decorates cakes, does photography, and blog stocks! Number four, Bonnie, works for a medical center. She is sassy, strong, funny, and a talented decorator. No, I didn't forget to mention what is special about number three or four. They are special because they are identical twins! Last but not least, number five, Luke. Works for a major company in the city. He is quite a carpenter, home remodeler, comedian (sometimes), and a great guy! My only son. Oh, almost forgot to mention that all of my kids are beautiful/handsome!!!!

How blessed I am!!!

Got to tell (brag) about my daughter's website. I just finished looking at it and I am so impressed with her abilities and talents! Way to go Debbie!!!

Must Be Monday

Things have been a little busy around here today. Still managed to get the things done that I wanted to. Now it's time to do whatever! I've made comments to the girls' blogs so decided to do my post for today.

I really enjoy reading about how the grandkids are doing (or should I say what they are doing). Hope you kids realize that when your kids are grown, you will still worry about them. Even though it's hard, you can't always try to fix things or make it better for them like when they are little. Still, things can tear at your heart!
No matter what, remember how much you are loved by this momma!!!

What a Nice Day!

Alan and I went to Winfield, KS today to attend a retirement party for our accountant. He is such a nice man and, if you judge by how many people were there, very well liked in his community.

Started out with rain, but we finally got out of it. I had a really nice time. The drive was pretty and the company (Alan) pleasant. We ate dinner in Iola on our way home.

All in all, a really good day!

My Poor Plants

During a recent thunderstorm, we had quite a bit of hail. Fortunately, my flowers were ok for the most part, but can you see the holes in my hostas plant? Looks like something was beating it to death!!

Oh well, at least the roof is ok, I think!

What do you do with tree trunks?

Since we moved into our home three years ago, we have cut down a few trees. Now that the trees are gone, we had the tree trunks to deal with. Alan is taking care of that today. Yep, he rented a stump grinder and is diligently working at their removal.

Speaking of Hot

Sis and I were talking about the heat earlier today. I told her that the record high (for the past several days) was set in 1953. Can't imagine what my mom felt like. She was pregnant with my twin and me. We didn't come along until August! Sis said all we had was a water cooler and a box fan in the window.

Sis said she remembers going to the gas station and hearing people talk about it being hot enough to fry and egg. Guess what, they did fry an egg on the sidewalk!

I was only pregnant once during the summer with Luke. I didn't care too much for the heat at all! So I really can't imagine what my mom was going through!!

Man, it's hot inside!

Went with my oldest sister today over to our mom's house. We try to go over once a week to vacuum, mop, and dust. When we first got there, as usual, we sit with mom to have a cup of coffee. Since it was already 80 inside mom's house, we only needed one cup! Then, after our coffee, we do the cleaning which really isn't hard to do because mom's house is always neat and tidy! We finished about an hour later and, since it was too early to eat lunch, we ran our errands. When we got to the car, my sis says,"man, is it hot in the house or what"! By this time, my hair is almost dripping wet from sweat! Anyway, we got cooled off while running our errands and then went back to mom's for lunch. The ac was on at this point, so the rest of our vist was really nice.

I try to keep in mind that I probably will have my house hot too someday. We love our mom and since her health is not the best in the west, we try to do what we can to keep her with us longer.

A Rough Night

The problem with "weather call" is that you can get a call anytime! We got four calls between 10:30 last night and 5:30 this morning. Still managed to go back to sleep though. Good thing the phone is next to Alan!!!

My Husband Must Really Love Me

My husband must really love me a lot. He has been working (for quite a while) on a Christmas decoration that I just fell in love with. It is a large yard Bible. Even after drilling holes in two of his fingers, he still keeps working on it!

I am so blessed to have him in my life!!!!

Is it really the middle of June?

Gosh, can't believe it really is June 15! Happy Anniversary to Mary K and Kurt and Happy Birthday to my brother-in-law, John K.

Not only is it the middle of June, it's Monday! (Not that one day is much different than the next.) I do enjoy spending time at home doing whatever needs to be done.

I will probably post again sooner or later.
